General Safety Information
Your bicycle wheels should always spin straight and must be repaired or replaced if they wobble side-to-side or up and down when spinning. If your wheels become untrue or the spokes loosen, do not attempt to true or tighten unless you have adequate knowledge, tools and experience.
It is recommended that a certified, reputable bike mechanic perform all wheel tuning and truing operations on your Premiere Edition Bluejay.
Before each ride, ensure that your tires and inner tubes are in good working condition, without any visual damage, and have the correct amount of air pressure. Always replace tires and inner tubes with punctures, cuts or damage before you ride. Tires without the correct amount of air pressure can reduce performance, increase tire and component wear, and make riding your bike unsafe.
Tire Inflation and Maintenance
Your Premiere Edition Bluejay has pneumatic rubber tires with inner tubes. The tubes are equipped with Schrader valves, the same valves found on motor vehicle tires, for adding or reducing air pressure. Despite the similarity of valves, it is inappropriate to use an automobile air pump to inflate bicycle tires. Use a bicycle pump fitted with a Schrader valve attachment.
Bluejay Electric Bicycles recommends 50-65 PSI for the front and rear tires of the Premiere Edition Bluejay. For easy reference, this number is printed on the sidewalls of the tires.
Do not underinflate or overinflate the tires. It is critically important that proper air pressure is always maintained in pneumatic tires. Low pressure may result in loss of control, and overinflated tires may burst. Failure to maintain the air pressure rating indicated on pneumatic tires at all times may result in tire and/or wheel failure.
When changing a tire or tube, ensure that all air pressure has been removed from the inner tube prior to removing tire from the rim. Failure to remove all air pressure from the inner tube could result in serious injury.
